How to Track Weights

Weight is one of the most reliable health indicators for reptiles, and regular logging gives you a trend line that catches problems before they become serious. Weight tracking in ReptiDex gives you a full growth history for every animal, flags significant weight loss automatically, and lets you log an entire collection in one session.

Navigate to Weights in the left sidebar (web) or tap Weights in the bottom tab bar (mobile).

The Weight Dashboard

The Weight dashboard shows an overview of your collection's weight activity: total records, animals tracked, most recent recording date, and any active health alerts.

Health Alerts flag animals that have dropped more than a set percentage of their body weight since their last recorded weight. If an alert is triggered, the animal's name, weight change, and percentage loss appear in the alerts panel. You can configure the alert threshold and opt into weight reminder notifications in Settings > Notifications.

Recording a Single Weight

Web: Click + Record Weight in the top right of the Weight dashboard. Select the animal, enter the weight, set the date, and add any notes.

Mobile: Tap Record Weight at the bottom of the Weight Tracking screen.

You can also record a weight directly from an animal's detail page. Scroll to the Weight Tracking section and tap + Record Weight. This pre-selects the animal so you can just enter the number.

Bulk Weight Entry

Bulk entry lets you log weights for multiple animals in a single form -- useful for weigh days when you're going through the whole rack.

Web: Click Bulk Entry on the Weight dashboard. The form lists all your animals with their current weight shown. Enter new weights and leave any field blank to skip that animal.

Mobile: Tap Bulk Entry at the bottom of the Weight Tracking screen. Same flow -- fill in what you have, leave the rest blank.

You can also trigger bulk weight entry scoped to a specific group. See How to Use Groups for details.

Per-Animal Weight History

Each animal has a detailed weight history view showing a growth chart, latest weight, growth rate (g/day), total change percentage, and a full record log.

Web: Open an animal's detail page and scroll to the Weight Tracking section.

Mobile: From the Weight Tracking dashboard, tap any animal in the list to open their individual weight history -- latest weight, growth rate, change percentage, a full growth chart with min/max/total growth stats, and a chronological weight log.

Tips

  • Set your weight unit in Settings > Preferences before your first entry so all records are consistent. See Setting Your Preferences for details.
  • Use Bulk Entry on weigh days to get through your whole collection faster. Empty fields are skipped -- no need to enter zeroes.
  • Enable Weight Reminders in Settings > Notifications to get reminded to weigh on a regular schedule.
  • The alert threshold for Low Weight Alerts defaults to 10% weight loss. Adjust it in Settings > Notifications to match your tolerance.
