Is ReptiDex really free?
Yes. The free plan includes up to 10 animals, 100 weight records per year, up to 5 breeding pairs, 1 GB of photo storage, and full access to all supported species care guides. No credit card required, no time limit.
What species does ReptiDex support?
ReptiDex supports 137 species including ball pythons, leopard geckos, crested geckos, bearded dragons, corn snakes, king snakes, boa constrictors, blue tongue skinks, and many more. If you keep a species we do not support yet, you can submit a request right inside ReptiDex and we usually turn those around within a few days.
Can I import my existing spreadsheet data?
Absolutely. ReptiDex supports CSV and Excel file imports with smart field mapping. Our fuzzy species matching automatically identifies your species even if the names don't match exactly. Available on Pro and Premium plans.
Does ReptiDex work offline?
Yes. The iOS app caches your animals, groups, and weight data locally. You can view and add records without an internet connection. Changes sync automatically when you reconnect. The web app requires an internet connection but works on any device with a browser.
Can multiple people manage the same collection?
Yes. Pro plans support up to 3 team members and Premium supports unlimited collaborators. You can assign roles like owner, admin, member, or viewer to control who can edit versus view your collection.
How does breeding tracking work?
ReptiDex provides a full breeding management system that covers every stage from pairing to hatching. Create breeding seasons, manage pairs with pairing and separation dates, track individual clutches, monitor each egg from laid through candled, pipped, hatched, or failed, record candling observations with photos, and view breeding analytics with year-over-year success rates.
What is the family tree / lineage feature?
The ReptiDex lineage feature generates visual pedigree trees showing up to 5 generations of sire and dam relationships. It allows you to track reptile lineage and genetics across your entire collection, which is valuable for planning breeding projects and providing professional documentation to buyers.
Can I export my data if I ever want to leave?
Of course. You can export your full collection to CSV on any plan, including free. PDF, JSON, and Excel exports are available on the paid plans. Your records belong to you, and we'll never lock you in. Read how data ownership works

ReptiDex is available on the web at reptidex.com and on iOS. You can sign up and start using the web app immediately from any browser. An Android app is in development and will be released in the coming weeks.

Yes. ReptiDex includes an animal transfer feature that lets you send an animal to a buyer's ReptiDex account with the full record history attached. The buyer gets the pedigree, health records, weight trends, and morph documentation. Records follow the animal, not just the breeder.
