Approving or Rejecting Link Requests
When another breeder links your animal as a parent in their pedigree, that connection becomes part of a publicly visible lineage tree -- so you need to be the one who approves it. This guide shows you how to review, approve, and reject incoming pedigree link requests in ReptiDex.
When another ReptiDex user searches the platform and requests to list one of your animals as a parent of one of theirs, you'll receive a link request. You stay in control of every connection made to your animals.
Finding Link Requests
Go to Settings > Link Requests. If you have pending requests, you'll see a notification badge on the Settings page.
Each request shows:
- The animal being claimed (name, species, morph description)
- The role -- Sire (Father) or Dam (Mother)
- The date the request was submitted
Approving a Request
Click or tap the request to expand it and review the details. If everything looks correct, click Approve. The requesting user's animal will immediately show your animal as its parent and their pedigree tree will update automatically.
Rejecting a Request
If the request is incorrect or you don't want to approve it, click Reject. The request is dismissed and no changes are made to either animal.
Auto-Approving Requests
If you'd rather skip the manual review step entirely, you can enable Auto-Approve Link Requests in Settings > Preferences. When turned on, all incoming requests are approved automatically. See Setting Your Preferences for details.
How to Initiate a Link Request
To request a link to another user's animal, go to your animal's detail page and use the Link from platform option in the Lineage section. Search for the animal by name or ID and tap Link. The request is sent to the owner for review. See How to Link Parents and Build Lineage for the full flow.
