How to Track Sheds

Stuck sheds and irregular shed cycles are often tied to husbandry issues like low humidity or inadequate hides -- and you can only identify the pattern with consistent records. This guide shows you how to log shed events and review shed history in ReptiDex.

Shed tracking gives you a record of each animal's shedding history -- including whether the shed was complete or partial, and any notes about stuck shed or intervention. Over time this builds a picture of shed frequency and any recurring issues.

Logging a Shed

Web: Open the animal's detail page, scroll to the Shed History section, and click + Log Shed.

Mobile: Open the animal's detail page, scroll to the Care Log section, and tap + Log next to Last Shed. You can also tap View History to open the full Care Log History and log from there.

Shed fields

  • Complete Shed -- toggle on for a full shed completed successfully. Toggle off to record a partial or stuck shed.
  • Shed Date -- defaults to today, adjustable
  • Notes -- optional, useful for recording interventions (e.g. "Stuck shed on tail, soaked 30 min")

Viewing Shed History

Web: The Shed History section on the animal detail page shows a chronological log of all recorded sheds.

Mobile: Tap View History in the Care Log section of the animal detail page. Switch to the Sheds tab to see the full history alongside the feedings tab.

Bulk Sheds

On mobile, you can log sheds in bulk for an entire group at once from the group detail page. See How to Use Groups for details.
