How to Track Feedings
A change in appetite is often the first sign of a health issue, stress, or an upcoming shed -- and you can only see the pattern if you have the records. This guide shows you how to log feedings and review feeding history in ReptiDex.
Feeding history is logged per animal from the animal's detail page. Every record shows what was fed, how much, and when -- giving you a full history to spot patterns and track appetite over time.
Logging a Feeding
Web: Open the animal's detail page, scroll to the Feeding History section, and click + Log Feeding.
Mobile: Open the animal's detail page, scroll to the Care Log section, and tap + Log next to Last Fed. You can also tap View History to open the full Care Log History and log from there.
Feeding fields
- Food Type -- select from prepared foods (Salad / Greens, Fruit, Pellet Food) or any custom foods you've saved. You can also type a new food name and save it for future use.
- Quantity -- how many items or how much was fed
- Date and Time -- defaults to now, adjustable
- Notes -- optional, useful for noting refusals, second attempts, or anything worth remembering (e.g. "Refused first attempt, ate on second")
Custom food types
If your feed isn't in the default list, type it in and save it as a custom food. Saved custom foods appear in the autocomplete list on future feedings and sync across your collection. On mobile, custom foods appear under the Custom section in the food selector.
Set as default
On mobile, you can check Set as default for [animal name] to pre-fill that food type the next time you log a feeding for that animal.
Repeating a Feeding
Once a feeding is logged, a Repeat button appears in the Feeding History section on web. Clicking it pre-fills the same food type, quantity, and date as the last entry -- just confirm to save. Useful for animals on a consistent diet where nothing changes between feedings.
Viewing Feeding History
Web: The Feeding History section on the animal detail page shows the last fed date, food type, and a recent records table.
Mobile: Tap View History in the Care Log section of the animal detail page to open the Care Log History. Switch between the Feedings and Sheds tabs to see the full chronological history for each.
Bulk Feedings
On mobile, you can log feedings in bulk for an entire group at once from the group detail page. See How to Use Groups for details.
