What Sunset looks like

Visual Sunset. Intensified red/orange coloration that deepens with age.

Color mutation that produces intensified red and orange coloration. Visual Sunset animals display vivid warm tones that intensify with age. A highly sought-after recessive morph for color-focused breeding projects.

How to identify it: Intense red/orange coloration throughout the body. Colors deepen with age. Normal pattern shape but dramatically altered coloration.

How Sunset is inherited

Sunset follows a recessive inheritance pattern, carried on the Sunset allele (locus Sunset).

What does het sunset mean?

Because Sunset is recessive, an animal needs two copies of the allele to show the trait visually. An animal with a single copy is called het sunset (heterozygous). A het animal looks normal but carries the gene, so pairing two het sunset animals produces, on average, one in four visual sunset offspring.
