Pedigree and lineage

Reptile Pedigree Software

ReptiDex is a reptile lineage tracker for breeders. Record each animal and its parents and the pedigree builds itself back through five generations. Link parents that live in other keeper accounts, print a pedigree for a buyer, and put a QR code on every animal that opens its live record.

Free on web and iOS. Sign in to start recording lineage.

Records that follow the animal

A pedigree the record keeps for you

You do not draw a pedigree in ReptiDex. You record animals and their parents once, and the lineage falls out of that work. Because the pedigree lives on the animal, it travels with the animal: print it, share a QR to the live record, or transfer the whole history to a buyer when you sell.

What the pedigree tracker does

Built to track lineage, not just store it

A reptile pedigree tracker is only useful if the lineage stays accurate as your program grows and as animals change hands. These are the parts that keep it true.

Lineage tree

Multi-generation pedigree trees
Record an animal and its parents, and the pedigree builds itself back through five generations. You read a full family tree from one screen instead of drawing it by hand or keeping it in your head.

Cross-keeper parents

Link parents across other keepers
When a sire or dam lives in another keeper account, send a link request. Once it is approved, that parent joins your pedigree with the detail the other keeper chose to share, so the lineage stays true past your own collection.

Printable proof

Print a pedigree for a buyer
Generate a printable pedigree to send with a sale or keep on file. The buyer sees the ancestors laid out, so the lineage is documented rather than described.

Live record

QR codes that open the live record
Put a QR code on every animal. A scan opens the current record: lineage, weights, and history as they stand today. A printed tag becomes a link to the live animal, not a snapshot that ages.

How it works

Three steps to a working pedigree

  1. 1
    Step 01

Add the animal and its parents

Enter an animal and record its sire and dam. Do the same for those parents over time and the tree deepens on its own.

  2. 2
    Step 02

Link parents you do not own

For a parent in another keeper account, send a link request. Approval brings that parent into your pedigree with the shared detail attached.

  3. 3
    Step 03

Print it or share the QR

Print the pedigree for a sale, or put a QR code on the animal that opens its live record for anyone who scans it.

Questions

Pedigree questions, answered

What is reptile pedigree software?
Reptile pedigree software records an animal and its ancestors so you can see the full family tree at a glance. In ReptiDex, each animal keeps its parents, and those parents keep theirs, so a pedigree builds itself as you enter your collection. You get a lineage tracker that shows several generations back without you drawing anything by hand.
How many generations does the pedigree tree show?
The pedigree tree shows up to five generations. As long as the parents are recorded, ReptiDex walks back through sires and dams and lays out the tree for you, so you can read the lineage of any animal in your collection from one screen.
Can I link parents that belong to another keeper?
Yes. When a parent lives in another keeper account, you can send a link request. Once the other keeper approves it, that parent joins your pedigree with the detail they chose to share at approval time. This is how a reptile lineage tracker stays accurate across breeders instead of stopping at your own collection.
Can I print a pedigree to send with a sale?
Yes. ReptiDex generates a printable pedigree you can hand to a buyer or keep for your own records. It lays out the ancestors, so the buyer sees where the animal comes from rather than taking your word for it.
How does the QR code connect to the pedigree?
Every animal can carry a QR code that opens its live record. Scan it and you land on the animal, its lineage, its weights, and its history as they stand right now. It turns a printed tag into a link back to the current record instead of a snapshot that goes stale.
Is ReptiDex a pedigree audit tool as well as a tracker?
You can use it that way. Because the lineage is recorded animal by animal and parents can be linked to their real source across keepers, you can trace a pedigree back and check that each generation lines up. That makes it a reptile pedigree tracker and a way to audit a line before you commit to a pairing.
